Pine Planters

17 Dec Pine Planters

Buy.Sell.Create.Dwell

Just because it is cold outside, does not mean that you cannot have cute, live planters in front of your home. ’Tis the season when many guests and family members will be in and out of your home. One idea that we love, that can be used throughout the winter months, is to use pine cuttings and place them in planters outside your front door. You can buy cuttings at your local grocery store, but we tend to forage and cut down in our yards, or neighbors (with permission, of course!) The key is to arrange the pine cuttings before the temperatures really start to drop. That way when it gets cold, the dirt in your planters will freeze and your cuttings will stay in place until a spring thaw. Below are the simple steps it takes to add some festivity to your front door:

1. Remove what is currently in your planters. We prefer to use a serrated knife and cut off the greens keeping the soil in your pots.
2. Cut or purchase evergreen clippings.
3. Remove bottom greens from the clippings and push the stems deep into the soil to make them secure.
4. You can add branches, pine cones, etc. to fill in as needed.

That is it! We have seen lights and decorations added for the holidays that add charm and sparkle.

Sincerely,

Kurtz & Co.
